It's the Movie Fifty Shades everyone wants to
be in - Fifty Shades of Grey is the book that everyone is talking about and is
now being made by Universal Pictures and Focus Features into a feature film.
The erotic trilogy by E.L. James tells us of an unconventional love story
between dominant, handsome, billionaire Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey who
has some rather kinky and perverse tastes in the bedroom, whereas his object of
desire, Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele is an innocent, 21-year-old virgin
who has a love of British classics and likes to drink tea. This unsuspecting
pair end up in a violently passionate relationship full of elating highs,
crashing lows and earth-shattering sex. Anastasia Steele is described as being
a thin, pale girl with long dark hair and blue eyes that are too big for her
face. Almost every actress in Hollywood wants the part, from the big, worldly
stars like Angelina Jolie and Scarlett Johansson, to lesser-known actresses
like Lily Collins and Alexis Bledel. However, it seems one actress has taken
the lead in the candidacy for Anastasia Steele in the movie version of Fifty
Shades of Grey - Katie Cassidy.
The 25-year-old actress has recently appeared
in Gossip Girl and Melrose Place will have to compete with actresses such as
Emma Stone, Emma Watson and Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale for the role of
submissive Anastasia Steele. Emma Watson has revealed to the media that she
hasn't been approached for the role nor has she read the script, despite the
countless rumors on the Internet about her involvement in the movie, but that
doesn't mean the Harry Potter starlet is out of the running. Actors for the
role of Greek god and sadistic CEO Christian Grey include fan favorites Ryan
Gosling of The Notebook fame, Ian Somerhalder from the Vampire Diaries, and
Swedish True Blood Hunk Alexander Skarsgard. Channing Tatum's name was also
linked to the part, but he mentioned in an interview that he'd only agree to do
the part if his wife Jenna Dewan were cast opposite him as Anastasia."I'd
only be allowed if my wife was Ana," says the Magic Mike star, "She's
read the books so I don't think she'd be impressed if she couldn't be
Ana." With Universal Pictures and Focus Features priority lying with
finding a screenwriter and a director first, it looks like we'll have to wait
until we get our Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey.
